Each morning will consist of interactive vaulting, independent riding, horse care and handling, an educational session on horsemanship, and a work project.  Each day will also include special emphasis on a specific horsemanship discipline:

 

Monday:  “Vaults Up?”  An introduction to interactive vaulting through barrel work and on a horse will take place.  Interactive vaulting is a group activity where individuals perform gymnastic positions on a specially trained and controlled horse.

 

Tuesday:  “Westward HO”.  An introduction to Western riding (Equipment and equitation).

 

Wednesday:  “The English Language”.  An introduction to English riding (Equipment and equitation).

 

Thursday:  “Drive you Crazy”.  An introduction to driving horses single and as a pair through ground driving and a ride on a hay wagon.

 

Friday:  “Trick or Treat”.  An introduction to horse psychology and training through tricks.

 

No prior horse experience required to participate.

 

Cost:    $200 per week-long session.  Participants will be limited to one session.

 

Registration:  A down payment of $50 along with registration form and liability waiver required to hold a spot.  Call or email to determine class availability. 

 

 

Optional pre-class morning activity:

 

8:35 AM devotions:   At Mesa Farm we’re interested in promoting holistic youth development (hence the farm work project).  If you would like your child to participate in a short Christian devotion prior to each morning’s session, bring her or him at 8:30.  They will be over by 8:50 AM and your child can then wait with our staff for the rest of the class participants to arrive for the 9:00 o’clock program beginning.
